Donald D. Carlin

Donald D. Carlin, age 83, of rural Ney, Ohio, went home in the arms of Jesus at 8:50 A.M. on Monday, May 21, 2012. Mr. Carlin was a lifelong farmer and John Deere enthusiast. He retired from Ramus Automotive, where he was a salesman and managed several of the stores prior to his retirement. For many years, he and his wife of sixty years, Mary Alice, operated Carlin’s Greenhouse near Ney. He was also a faithful member of Pleasant Ridge Dunkard Brethren Church. Donald Carlin was born on October 19, 1928, near Stryker, Ohio, the son of Emerson and Harriet (Shaffer) Carlin. He married Mary Alice Rensberger on August 21, 1949, in Sherwood, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on June 27, 2010. Surviving are his children, Robert (Edna) Carlin, of Ney, Martha Dennison, of Bryan, Diane (Jim) Thompson and Wayne Carlin, both of Ney, and LaDonna (Marvin) Lorenz, of West Unity, Ohio, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and two sisters, Pat Smith, of Stryker, and Nancy (Dean) St. John, of Ephrata, Pennsylvania. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William “Bill” Carlin. Visitation for Donald D. Carlin will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Elder Harley Flory, Elder Dennis St. John, and Elder Tom St. John officiating. Interment will follow in Ney Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Pleasant Ridge Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
