Gladys Witsaman, age 98, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 9:35 P.M. on Friday, April 13, 2012, at Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center, where she was a resident, after a brief illness. Mrs. Witsaman was a waitress, who began her working career at the age of sixteen and worked until her retirement at age seventy-five with a total of fifty-nine years of service. She worked for Dolly’s Restaurant in Edgerton for the majority of that time. In retirement she spent much time doing in-home care of the elderly. She was a member of the 4-Mile Baptist Church in Maryville, Tennessee, and enjoyed crocheting afghans to give away and quilting. Gladys Witsaman was born on September 10, 1913, in Maryville, Tennessee, the daughter of John and Marybelle (Allison) Irwin. She married George Witsaman and he preceded her in death on June 6, 1958. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Elsie McDonald, of Kissimmee, Florida, two sons, Robert (Barb) Witsaman and Richard (JoAnn) Witsaman, both of Edgerton, ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Edna Ellis, one grandson, Mike Whitney, twin great-granddaughters, Amy and Nicole St. John, and ten brothers and sisters. Services will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton. Memorials are requested to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
