Wilmetta M. Hootman

Wilmetta M. Hootman, age 98, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 9:35 A.M. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, Ohio, where she was a resident. Mrs. Hootman was a graduate of Bryan High School, where she was a member of the girls basketball team. During her working career, she was employed by the Crystal Company, Marshall Sewing Factory in Butler and Syncro in both Edgerton and Hicksville. She was a member of the Edgerton Church of Christ. Wilmetta M. Hootman was born on January 3, 1914, in Hicksville, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Siders) Martin. She married Gaylord W. Hootman, her husband of sixty years, and he preceded her in death on October 10, 1992. Survivors include one son, Vern Hootman, of Edgerton, one daughter, Marsha Ray, of Angola, Indiana, eight grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Joyce Hootman, two brothers, Emerson and Carl Martin, and one sister, Julia Martin. Services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at 3:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with D.V. Dillinger, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 P.M., in the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the Edgerton Church of Christ or to Community Health Professionals Hospice Care.
