Francis Irvin “Mac” McPike, age 94, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 6:35 P.M. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, where he was a patient. Mr. McPike was a 1935 graduate of Shields High School in Seymour, Indiana, and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, stationed in England. He was employed as an electrical engineer with Surface Combustion in Toledo, Ohio, retiring in 1982 with eighteen years of service. Mac was a member of the Edgerton United Methodist Church, was a fifty-year member of the Masonic Lodge, with memberships in the Shelbyville Masonic Lodge #28 F & AM, Shelbyville, Indiana, and Bryan Masonic Lodge #215 F & AM, Bryan, Ohio, and American Legion John D. Smith Post #10, Edgerton. He was also an avid bowler, enjoyed playing cards at the Edgerton Senior Center and was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers. For many years he was a Ham radio operator and repaired televisions and radios. Francis Irvin McPike was born on August 5, 1917, at Norman Station in Jackson County, Indiana, the son of George William and Cynthia Jane (Fish) McPike. He married Helen Louise Fish on October 11, 1941, and she preceded him in death in November of 2001. Survivors include one son, James (Karlyn) McPike, of Edgerton; three grandsons, Michael (Amy) McPike, of Shepherd, Michigan, Matthew (Laura) McPike, of Toledo, and Sean (Janna) McPike, of Hampton, Virginia; and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Loris McPike, and two sisters, Avis Day and Cletis Funck. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012, from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 noon in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with a Masonic service to be held at 12:00 noon. Services will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Reverend R.L. Barnett officiating. Visitation will also be held on Monday, March 19, 2012, from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the Spurgeon Funeral Home in Brownstown, Indiana. Grave side services with military honors will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Norman, Indiana, at 12:00 noon. Memorials are requested to the Edgerton United Methodist Church, Edgerton Senior Center or Liberty Cemetery in Norman, Indiana.
