Betty Jean Altaffer, age 77, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 11:40 P.M. on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center, where she was a patient. Mrs. Altaffer was a member of Bryan Moose Lodge #1064, Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233 and the Gas City, Indiana, Moose Lodge. Betty Jean Altaffer was born on March 8, 1935, in Marion, Indiana, the daughter of Russell and Thelma (Dickensheets) Hamaker. She married Ralph E. Altaffer on October 23, 1982, in Bryan, Ohio, and he survives. Survivors also include three daughters, Cynthia Hermann, of Waterloo, Illinois, Jennifer (Butch) Daft and Jeanne Wilson, both of Fairmount, Indiana; two sons, James Altaffer and Brian (Lona) Altaffer, both of Bryan; six grandchildren, Stephanie Daft-Parker, Jim “Jimmy” Daft, Lyndsi Altaffer, Johanna “Jodie” (Christopher) Stepuszek, Dean Hermann and Reid Hermann; seven great-grandchildren, Chanse, Kylar, Chelsea, Hayli, Kayli, Teddy and Victor; and one brother, Ronald (Marcia) Hamaker, of Marion, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Walter Hicks officiating. Interment will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
