Josie M. Nester, age 80, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 3:08 P.M. on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, where she was a patient. Mrs. Nester was a graduate of Columbia City High School and also Fort Wayne Beauty College. She was employed by General Telephone Company in Bryan, retiring with forty-four years of service. Josie was a Life member of Bryan VFW Post #2489 Ladies Auxiliary, Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233, and Bryan Am-Vets, and was a former member of Bryan Chapter #248, Order of the Eastern Star. She was also an avid fan of NASCAR and Detroit Tiger baseball and loved to dance, especially square dancing. Josie M. Nester was born on October 15, 1931, in Hillsville, Virginia, the daughter of Joseph Barnard and Beulah May (Lake) Dalton. She married Robert C. Nester on November 4, 1949, in Columbia City, Indiana, and he survives. Also surviving are two sons, Joe (Beckie) Nester, of Bryan, and Ed (RoxAnne) Nester, of Defiance, Ohio; one daughter, Mardell “Marty” (Adrian) Peavy, of Rocky Mount, Missouri; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty (Paul) Bills, of Columbia City, and Janeile Ternet, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and one brother, Joe (Jacque) Dalton, of Effingham, Illinois. She was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Dalton, one sister, Grace Lowe, and one granddaughter, Kaitlin Nester. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, from 3:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Bryan VFW Post #2489 Ladies Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with her son-in-law, Adrian Peavy, officiating. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in Fountain Grove Cemetery. Memorials are requested to Bryan VFW Post #2489 Ladies Auxiliary or to the Williams County Conservation League to support youth trapshooting.
