Robert V. Cooley, age 90, of Montpelier, Ohio, died on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Cooley was a lifelong dairy and livestock farmer and was a champion grower of corn, winning the DeKalb Seed Corn Contest in 1947 and 1954. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Bob was an active outdoors man and enjoyed gardening, mowing lawn and his dogs. Robert V. Cooley was born on May 10, 1921, in Williams County, Ohio, the son of Victor and Daisy (Marsh) Cooley. He married Ruth P. Stotz on August 15, 1941, and she preceded him in death in September 1980. He then married Madge “Midge” Sadowsky on November 18, 1981, in Hillsdale, Michigan, and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, including Larry (Christy) Cooley, of Montpelier; two daughters, DeeAnn Bowers, of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Ramona (Richard) Pender, of Taylorsville, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Olin (Rosemary) Cooley, of Kooskia, Idaho, and Harold (Sue) Cooley, of Bryan; and one sister, Wavia (Lindsey) Wright, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Cummins, and an infant daughter and an infant son. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2012, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012, at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Dr. William Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery in Bryan. Memorials are requested to the Williams County Humane Society.
