Jerry S. DeWitt, age 67, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 7:41 A.M. on Friday, February 17, 2012, shortly after admittance to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan. Mr. DeWitt was a 1963 graduate of Fayette High School and worked for General Motors in Defiance, Ohio, retiring on April 1, 2006, with forty-two years of service. He was a member of the Restoration Fellowship Church and UAW Local 211 in Defiance. Jerry enjoyed camping, gardening, riding his moped, and fishing with his grandkids. He was known as the ultimate decorator for Christmas and loved his Ford vehicles and his two canine companions, Mickey and Ace. Jerry S. DeWitt was born on September 11, 1944, in Morenci, Michigan, the son of Samuel and Marion (Robinson) DeWitt. He married Jacqueline “Jackie” McGuire on June 8, 1990, in Defiance and she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife, Jackie, are five children, Deborah (Kenny) Franks, of Bryan, Harold DeWitt, of Ney, Ohio, Brenda (and fiancee, Jeff Gipple), of Williams Center, Ohio, Michelle (Don) Oliphant and Scott Levandoski, both of Bryan; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janis “Sis” (Nelson) Richer, of Wauseon, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, a half-brother and a half-sister. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 20, 2012, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Jim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Center Cemetery. Memorials are requested to Restoration Fellowship Church.
