Paul L. Rohrs, age 86, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 12:19 A.M. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville, Ohio, where he had been a patient since January 4, 2012. Mr. Rohrs was a construction superintendent, working with Schinner and Trump Construction, and then retired from Schenkel Construction in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In his retirement, he kept busy with small construction jobs throughout the area and was known for his superior finish work. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. His memberships included St. Mary Catholic Church, Edgerton John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion, and the Indiana Carpenters Union Local 232. Paul L. Rohrs was born on May 15, 1925, in Hicksville, Ohio, the son of John and Florence (Smith) Rohrs. He married his wife of nearly sixty-four years, Evadna M. Thiel, on November 29, 1947, in Edgerton, and she preceded him in death on November 8, 2011. Survivors also include three daughters, Diana (Robert) Beverly, of Edgerton, Sharon (Kim) Carpenter, of Bryan, Ohio, and Carolyn Rohrs, of Mansfield, Ohio; one son, Chuck (Alice) Rohrs, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Lisa (Dean) Thiel, Jason Beverly, Douglas and Christopher Carpenter and Spenser Rohrs; and three great-grandchildren, Noah Beverly and Elizabeth and Felicity Thiel. Also surviving are two sisters, LaVerne Grupp, of Bryan, Ohio, and Florence Fields, in South Carolina, and two brothers, Floyd (Dolene) Rohrs, of Antwerp, Ohio, and Lester (Irene) Rohrs, of Bryan. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Martha, three sisters, Dora Shaffer, Kate Cather and Phyllis Humrickhouse, and one brother, Deloy Rohrs. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012, from 3:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton with recitation of the rosary at 8:00 P.M. on Friday. Services will be held on Saturday, January, 28, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary Catholic Church, Edgerton, with Father Art Niewiadomski officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Edgerton with grave side military rites conducted by John D. Smith Post #10 of the Edgerton American Legion. Memorials are requested to the Williams County Humane Society.
