Gaylord L. Davis, age 75, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 4:05 A.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, where he had been a patient for the last two weeks. Mr. Davis was a 1954 graduate of Ney High School and was employed as a millwright for General Motors Central Foundry in Defiance, Ohio, from 1961 until his retirement in 1997. He served in the Unites States Army with the 34th Armored Division from 1959-1961. His memberships include Trinity Lutheran Church in Bryan, Ney American Legion Post #680, of which he was a Life Member, and AmVets Post #1991. An avid toy collector and restorer of antique tractors, he was also a member of the Northwest Ohio Toy Collector Club and the Black Swamp Tractor Club. Gaylord L. Davis was born on March 17, 1936, near Ney, Ohio, the son of Leighton “Tub” and Beatrice (Vollmer) Davis. He married Pauline N. Wheeler on September 15, 1962, in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives. Survivors also include two sons, Lyle (and fiancee, Christie Oberlin) Davis, of Edgerton, Ohio, and Todd (Amy) Davis, of Bryan; two grandchildren, Krista and Evan Davis; one brother, Gaylon (Elaine) Davis, of Defiance, Ohio; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, “Tub” and Beatrice Davis, a son, Tad Davis, and a daughter, Angela Davis. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, from 3:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at 10:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Bryan with Reverend Mary Beth Smith-Gunn officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Bryan with grave side military rites conducted by Ney American Legion Post #680. Memorials are requested to Trinity Lutheran Church.
