Dorothea M. Bowers, age 92, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 8:37 A.M. on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, shortly after admittance to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan. A 1937 graduate of Farmer High School, she graduated from nurses’ training in Sacramento, California. She worked as a licensed practical nurse and inhalation therapist at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento and at Bryan Hospital and also worked at Bryan Nursing Care Center. Mrs. Bowers was a longtime volunteer at Church Women United Thrift Shop in Bryan and was the last surviving member of the class of 1937 from Farmer High School. Dorothea M. Bowers was born on September 4, 1919, near Farmer, Ohio, the daughter of George and Gladys (Dillon) Fulmer. She married Harry Lewis Bowers, Sr. on September 24, 1938, in Defiance, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on February 11, 1985. Survivors include three sons, Harry L. (Lois) Bowers, Jr., of Edgerton, Ohio, David P. (Vickie) Bowers, of Port Richey, Florida, and George W. (Joann) Bowers, of Hudson, Florida; two daughters, Jane E. (Rod) Giuntoli, of Wenatchee, Washington, and Jacque E. (Archie) Harris, of Bryan; eighteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Eileen Lutz, Marjorie Ebaugh and Marilyn Bocock; three brothers, Richard, Robert and Stanley Fulmer; and two grandchildren, Christina Iman and Gregory Bowers. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Bryan with Pastor George Kreger officiating. Interment will follow in Farmer Cemetery. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
