Richard M. “Mike” Mohley, age 69, of Edgerton, Ohio, died on Friday, December 30, 2011, in his home after a brief illness. Mr. Mohley was a member of the first graduating class of Fairview High School and attended Bowling Green State University. He served in the United Sates Navy from 1963-1967, serving on the USS America, and then was employed at Johns-Manville in Defiance, retiring with thirty-six years of service. Mike was an avid reader of history and enjoyed collecting stamps and coins. Richard M. “Mike” Mohley was born on October 13, 1942, near Defiance, Ohio, the son of Melburn and Bernice (Singer) Mohley. He married Elaine M. Herman on June 1, 1968, in Edgerton, and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Ernest (Angela) Mohley, of Indianapolis, Indiana, six grandchildren, Daniel James Mohley, with the United States Navy, Emily Grace Mohley and Geri Jane Mohley, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jessica Marie Christiansen and Kathryn Elizabeth Christiansen, both of Indianapolis, and Madison Rae Mohley, also of Indianapolis, one sister, Carol (Bob) Kennedy, of Peru, Indiana, and one brother, Bruce (Sandy) Mohley, of Ney, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant granddaughter, and an infant brother, John Mohley. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton with Father Art Niewiamdomski officiating. The family will receive visitors in the church one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Military rites will follow at the church. In keeping with Navy tradition, his cremated remains will be buried at sea at a later date. Memorials are requested to St. Mary School.
