Robert A. Kissinger, age 72, of rural Edon, Ohio, died at 3:40 A.M. on Sunday, December 18, 2011, in his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Kissinger was a lifelong dairy farmer and was a member of the Williams County Dairy Association. He was also a member of the Columbia Church of Christ, Montpelier Moose Lodge and Montpelier Eagles. He was a longtime township trustee in Northwest Township, serving for eighteen years and was instrumental in establishment of Northwest Fire and Rescue, the Mid Toll development and the Northwest Community Building. Robert A. Kissinger was born on October 9, 1939, near Blakeslee, Ohio, the son of Burton D. and Maxine (Bigger) Kissinger. He married Sharon K. Wolf on July 16, 1985, at Niagra Falls, New York, and she survives. Survivors also include two daughters, Tamera Ryman, of Montpelier, and Kimberly (Tim) Hickman, of Edon, one son, Robert A. Kissinger II, of Edon, ten grandchildren, Tiffany (Eric) Jenkins, Tyler Ryman, Robert A. Kissinger III, Amber (Matt) Farnham, Jeremy Ellert, India Hickman, Holden Partin and Lindsay, Nathan and Naomi Hickman, three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Also surviving are two brothers, William E. (Phyllis) Kissinger and Richard L. (Angie) Kissinger, both of Edon, and two sisters, Patricia (Bill) Herman, of Edgerton, and Mary Lou (James) Miller, of Edon. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald Kissinger. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, from 3:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edon. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in the Columbia Church of Christ, Columbia, Ohio, with Pastor Nathan Derico officiating. Interment will be in Malcolm Cemetery, near Edon. Memorials are requested to Northwest Fire and Rescue or to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospital Hospice.
