Gerald P. Goebel, age 66, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 9:04 A.M. on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio, where he was a patient, after an illness of two years. Mr. Goebel was a 1965 graduate of Bryan High School and had been employed at Spangler Candy Company for twenty-one years, then at Kamco from where he retired. For over twenty years, he worked at the Bryan Theatre as a projector operator and also worked at Wick’s Par-T-Pak in Bryan. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Bryan Am-Vets Post #54 and Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233 and was an avid pool player and fan of the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. Gerald P. Goebel was born on July 9, 1945, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Paul and Helen (Linhart) Goebel. Survivors includetwo daughters, Lori (Junior) Garcia and Angie (Cory) Fackler, both of Bryan; six grandchildren, Joshua (Jacki) Schmitt, Jamie Blalock, Kyle Summers, and Zachary, Drew and Chase Fackler; two brothers, Richard (Carol) Goebel and Kenneth (Donna) Goebel, both of Bryan; and three sisters, Jean (Wayne) Goodlive, of Montpelier, Ohio, Charlotte (Mark) Bernath, of West Unity, Ohio, and Carolyn (Joe) Kolb, of Ayresville, Ohio, and his former wife and longtime companion, Dianne Goebel, of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Services will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Bryan with Reverend Donald L. Luhring officiating. Military rites conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489 will follow. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
