Ramon K. “Ray” Adams, age 75, of Bryan, Ohio, died early on Saturday, December 10, 2011, in his home. Mr. Adams worked as an auto and heavy equipment mechanic for Mendel Motor Sales and Winzeler Excavating and also was a self-employed painter. Ray was the youngest of fourteen children and the youngest of nine brothers to serve in the United States Armed Forces. He enjoyed playing cards, croquet, horseshoes, gardening, fishing and being the perpetual instigator. Ramon K. “Ray” Adams was born on August 22, 1936, in Pittsford, Michigan, the son of Frank C. and Etta L. (Bacon) Adams. He married Sylvia S. Young-Mahanes on June 17, 1988, in New Vienna, Ohio, and she survives. Survivors also include one son, Ramon C. (Tina) Adams, of Pioneer, Ohio; one stepson, William Mahanes, Jr.; one stepdaughter, Kelly (Christian) Travis, both of Hillsboro, Ohio; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur Adams, of Camden, Michigan, Keith Adams, in Oklahoma, and Carl Adams, in Missouri; and one sister, Betty (Herm) Bethel, of Tecumseh, Michigan. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Rodney Adams and one daughter, Helen K. Groves. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Becky Ploughe officiating. Interment with grave side military rites will follow in Leonardson Memorial Cemetery, Pittsford, Michigan. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
