P. Mildred Steckley, age 82, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 1:07 A.M. on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at Laurels of DeKalb in Butler Indiana, where she was a resident. Ms. Steckley was a 1946 graduate of Butler High School, Butler, Indiana, and for many years maintained the alumni records for the school. She was employed by The Edgerton Earth newspaper for over twenty years and then became Activities Director at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton. She then became Activities Director at Evergreen Manor Nursing Center in Montpelier, Ohio, where she remained until her retirement. Mildred was a member of the Rebekkah Lodge in Hamilton, Indiana, and also the Edgerton Alliance Church. P. Mildred Steckley was born on April 3, 1929, in Butler, Indiana, the daughter of Wilson Howard and Rose Mae (Thompson) Steckley. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Willoughby Steckley, of Vincennes, Indiana, four nephews and nieces and many cousins. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard E. and Allen Lee Steckley, and a sister-in-law, Doris Steckley. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton with her nephew, Pastor Dennis Steckley, officiating. Interment will follow in Big Run Cemetery near Butler. Visitation will be held in the Krill Funeral Home for one hour prior to the funeral, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
