Donna Jean Ellis, age 80, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 3:35 A.M. on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Montpelier, Ohio, where she had been a patient for two days, after an extended illness. Mrs. Ellis was a 1949 graduate of Montpelier High School and worked for Ruth’s Restaurant, Lamar’s Restaurant and then for Lester’s Diner, where she was part of the opening day waitress staff. She then was employed by Ohio Gas Company as manager of customer accounting, retiring with twenty-eight years of service. Donna was a faithful member of the Bryan First Church of Christ, where she was active in the Dorcas Circle and chaired the funeral committee for many years, and also was a longtime volunteer at Bryan Hospital. She was also an avid collector of bells, loved to fish and especially loved her grandchildren. Donna Jean Ellis was born on September 23, 1931, near Montpelier, Ohio, the daughter of Day and Lola (Manley) Stantz. She married Roger W. Ellis on May 19, 1957, in Bryan, Ohio, and he survives. Survivors also include two sons, who are both Toledo City Firefighters, Ronald (Susan) Ellis, of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Craig (Kim) Ellis, of Whitehouse, Ohio; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Eric) Trobaugh and Alivia and Grace Ellis; two grandsons, Tyler and Joshua Ellis; and one great-grandson, Jaiden Trobaugh. She is also survived by two sisters, June Crowl, of Bryan, and Carma (Jim) Greathouse, of Hicksville, Ohio, and one brother, Dayton (Liz) Stantz, also of Hicksville, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Larry Snavely officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery. Memorials are requested to Bryan First Church of Christ or to the Arthritis Foundation. The family wishes to extend a thank you to their Bryan First Church of Christ family for their thoughts, prayers and acts of kindness given to them during Donna’s illness.
