James E. Schweitzer

James E. (Jim) Schweitzer, age 78, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 1:42 P.M. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio, where he was a patient. Mr. Schweitzer was a 1951 graduate of Bryan High School and attended the University of Michigan. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army. Jim was employed at Northwest Materials as Vice President and General Manager for twenty-five years, then worked as credit manager at Sauder Woodworking for nine years. He then worked as the business manager for the Diocese of Phoenix for eleven years until his retirement. His memberships include St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1064 in Bryan. He was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed playing golf and traveling. James E. Schweitzer was born on October 7, 1933, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Francis Byron and Hildred Kathryn (Hall) Schweitzer. He married Shirley J. Baker on October 14, 1988, in Archbold, Ohio, and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Tim (Tracy) Schweitzer, of Phoenix, Arizona, Mark (Jackie) Schweitzer, of Archbold, Ohio, Jacki (Brad) Trevino, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jim (Charo) Kopke and Shawn (Jim) Russell, both of Apache Junction, Arizona, eleven grandchildren, one great-grandson and one sister, Jean Scribner, of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Norma Phipps and Mary Hinkle, his in-laws and a sister-in-law. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Bryan, followed by a scripture service at 8:00 P.M. on Friday. Services celebrating the life of James E. Schweitzer will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father James Halleron officiating. Military rites conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489 will follow the service. Memorials are requested to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, 6817 State Route 66 North, Defiance, Ohio 43512.
