JoAnn Sanders

JoAnn Sanders, age 81, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 9:07 P.M. on Monday, November 14, 2011, in her home, surrounded by her family, after an illness of one month. Mrs. Sanders was a 1948 graduate of Edgerton High School and graduated from Wayne Beauty College. She worked for two years as a beautician and then worked for twenty-two years as a secretary and receptionist with Edgerton Metal Products until her retirement. After her retirement she worked as a receptionist at Maxine’s Beauty Shop. JoAnn was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society and was a volunteer at the Edgerton Free Store. She was also an avid gardener, loved watching the wildlife around her home, enjoyed bowling and belonged to the ABC Bowling Congress. JoAnn Sanders was born on July 22, 1930, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Leo J. and Thelma L. (Griffin) Pahl. She married Paul J. Sanders on August 19, 1950, in Edgerton, and he preceded her in death on September 22, 1986. Survivors include three daughters, Alana (Michael) Danko, of Toledo, Denise (Lance) Bowsher, of Edgerton, and Milissa (Bob) Merritt, of Holland, Ohio; two sons, Larry (Beth) Sanders and Terry (Peg) Sanders, both of Edgerton; and Greg (Pam) Sullivan and their three children, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, who held a special place in her heart. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one sister, Loretta (Duane) Enterline, of Edon, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard Pahl. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011, after 2:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton. A scripture service will be held on Thursday at 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Edgerton, with Father Art Niewiadomski officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Edgerton. Memorials are requested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or School or to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospital Hospice. The family wishes to especially thank the nurses and aides of Hospice for their care and support.
