Alitza A. Carnahan, age 81, of Montpelier, Ohio, died at 5:07 A.M. on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Evergreen Manor Nursing Center in Montpelier, where she was a resident. Mrs. Carnahan was a member of Bethlehem Christian Union Church near Edon, Ohio, where she and her husband were the first couple married in the church. She enjoyed vacationing with her brother, especially to Florida, and was an enthusiast of craft sales and shows. Alitza A. Carnahan was born on February 10, 1930, near Edon, Ohio, the daughter of Laurence L. and Melvia Ruth (Lash) Goshorn. She married Richard G. Carnahan, Sr. on December 26, 1949, at Bethlehem Christian Union Church near Edon, and he preceded her in death in 1983. Survivors include two daughters, Doris Ann Bailey, of Ithaca, Michigan, and Christine C. (Donald) Barsdale, of Jackson, Michigan, six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one brother, Paul Goshorn, of Montpelier, and one sister, Donna V. Thomas, of Bryan, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Richard G. Carnahan, Jr. and John A. Carnahan, one grandson, Rob Carnahan, and one sister, Madilyn Welch. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio. Services will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2011, at 1:30 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, with Pastor John Rumple officiating. Grave side services and interment will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 31, 2011, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing, Michigan. Memorials are requested to the ALS Foundation.
