Theresa G. LaMantia, age 90, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 12:20 P.M. on Sunday, October 16, 2011, at Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center, where she was a resident. Mrs. LaMantia graduated as a registered nurse from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo and entered the United States Army as a nurse with the rank of Lieutenant during World War II, serving in M.A.S.H. units in the European Theater. Upon returning to Bryan, she worked at Bryan Hospital in Obstetrics and later at Bryan Nursing Care Center. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan, was a Life Member of Women of the Moose in Bryan, was a charter member of the St. Francis Circle, was a Life Member of the VFW and was a member of VFW Post #2489 in Bryan. Theresa G. LaMantia was born on March 15, 1921 , near Edgerton, Ohio, the daughter of Lawrence Ralph and Edith (Harry) Sanders. She married Sam LaMantia on September 15, 1943, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and he preceded her in death. Surviving are her seven children, Mary Jo LaMantia, of Montpelier, Mike (Mary) LaMantia, of Bryan, Trish (Dom) Mareno, of Miami, Florida, Fred (Natasha) LaMantia, of Bryan, James (Deb) LaMantia, of Seattle, Washington, Philip (Margaret) LaMantia, of Bryan, and Jane LaMantia, in Panama City, Florida, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Donelda Siglow, of Bryan, a brother, Harry (Betty) Sanders, of Edgerton, and a sister-in-law, Norma Sanders, of Bryan. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard Sanders. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street in Bryan, with recitation of the rosary at 7:30 P.M. Services will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan with Father James Halleron officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Edgerton with grave side military rites conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489. Memorials are requested to St. Patrick School or Church.
