Eleanor A. Foster, age 88, of Edon, Ohio, died at 9:35 P.M. on Saturday, October 8, 2011, in her home. Mrs. Foster was a 1940 graduate of Edon High School and graduated from Miami University with a degree in education and spent her entire career teaching kindergarten and first grade in the Edon Northwest Schools, retiring with twenty-five years of service. Her memberships included St. Peter Lutheran Church, Friends of the Edon Public Library and the Williams County Retired Teachers Association. She was an avid reader and supporter of the Friends of the Edon Public Library. Eleanor A. Foster was born on October 24, 1922, in Edon, Ohio, the daughter of William and Helen (Hathaway) Knepper. She married John D. Foster, Jr. on April 6, 1947, in Edon, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on July 23, 2002. Survivors include a son, John W. “Bill” (Susan) Foster, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and three grandchildren, Amanda and Jonathan (Shelli) Curtis and Claire Foster, one great-grandson, Carson Curtis, and a son-in-law, Paul Curtis, of Edon. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Emily Curtis, her parents and a brother, Max Knepper. Services for Eleanor A. Foster will be held Thursday, October 13, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edon with Pastor Roger Marlow officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 A.M., in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Edon Cemetery. A memorial service will also be held at a later date upon the return of her grandson from military deployment. Preferred memorials are to be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, Friends of Edon Public Library or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
