Mary P. Heffelfinger, age 90, of rural Bryan, Ohio, died at 9:10 A.M. on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio, where she was a patient. Mrs. Heffelfinger was a 1938 graduate of Hicksville High School and graduated from International Business College in 1939. She was a bookkeeper and worked for Carlin’s Hardware, then the Bryan Elevator and retired in 1985 with thirteen years of service at WBNO in Bryan. Her affiliations were with the Melbern United Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau. She was an avid crafter and was church organist at Calvary United Methodist Church in Williams Center for forty years. Mary P. Heffelfinger was born on October 23, 1920, in Milford Township in Defiance County, Ohio, the daughter of Elmer L. and Loa N. (Morris) Chaney. She married Kenneth L. Heffelfinger on September 15, 1942, in Hicksville, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on February 22, 2007. Survivors include three sons, Michael (Marilyn) Heffelfinger, of Edon, Ohio, Richard (Karen) Heffelfinger, of Reading, Michigan, and John (Rebecca) Heffelfinger, of Bryan, one daughter, Sue (Mike) Bowman, also of Bryan, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. Services for Mary P. Heffelfinger will be on Thursday, October 6, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, with Pastor Diane Schaffner officiating. Interment will follow in Six Corners Cemetery near Hicksville, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home in Bryan from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 5, and on Thursday, October 6, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Memorials in the name of Mary P. Heffelfinger may be given to the Melbern United Methodist Church or to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice.
