Lorraine V. Bauer, age 72, of Ney, Ohio, died at 5:26 P.M. on Friday, September 30, 2011, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, where she was a patient, after a brief illness. Mrs. Bauer was a 1957 graduate of Ney High School. She was employed at the Defiance County Recorder’s office and then retired from the Central Local School System, where she drove bus for thirty-one years. Lorraine was a member of the Sonrise Church near Ney and enjoyed traveling, gardening and making and sewing crafts. Lorraine V. Bauer was born on November 29, 1938, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Joseph and Ruth (Magneson) Levinson. After the early death of her parents she moved to the Ney area, where she was raised by Roy and Carrie Walters. She married Lauren J. Bauer on May 1, 1960, in Ney and he survives. Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Lynnette (Leon) Shouse, of Kellyville, Oklahoma, one son, Lynn (Amy) Bauer, of LaPorte, Indiana, four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and her foster sister, Gladys Donson, of Ney. Also surviving are her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marion (Charles) Frank, of Stryker, Ohio, Marvin (Norma) Bauer, of Bryan, Yvonne (Floyd) Smith, in Michigan, Phillip Bauer, Bill Bauer and Burnell (Nancy) Bauer, all of Bryan. She was also preceded in death by her brothers-in-law and sisters- in-law, George (Evelyn) Bauer, Vernon (Velma) Bauer, Hazel Naomi Bauer, Arlene (Gale) Lloyd and Joann Bauer. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Paul Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the Ney Cemetery. Memorials are requested to a Humane Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
