Duane D. Miller, age 72, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 7:39 A.M. on Friday, September 30, 2011, after an illness of five months. Mr. Miller was employed as a supervisor at General Tire Corporation in Bryan, Ohio, retiring with twenty-nine years of service, and then worked for Stark Truss in Edgerton for sixteen years. A 1958 graduate of Edgerton High School, he was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving as a crew chief with the Strategic Air Comand (SAC) from 1961-1965. His memberships included St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #1494, Bishop Rappe Assembly of 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion. Duane D. Miller was born on October 24, 1938, in Edgerton, the son of Quentin L. and Ursula M. (Gebhard) Miller. He married Charlene A. Radabaugh on April 20, 1963, in Edgerton, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on April 19, 2008. Surviving are one son, Duane D. (Teresa) Miller II, one daughter, Teresa (Dale) Appel, both of Edgerton, Ohio, and four grandchildren, Duane D. III and Dustin Miller and Devon and Zoe Appel. Also surviving are one sister, Lorraine (Norm) Beattie, of Defiance, Ohio, two brothers, Floyd Miller and Tom (Connie) Miller, both of Edgerton, and two sisters-in-law, Sharon (Larry) Burkhart and Gayla (Doug) Chaffee, both of Bryan, Ohio. Preceding him in death were his parents, his in-laws, Arthur and Marie Radabaugh, a sister, Zelda Miller, a sister-in-law, Myrna Miller, and two nieces, Loretta Lockwood and Tobi Burkhart. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton, after 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 2, 2011. Services will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton, with Father Art Niewiadomski officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Edgerton, with grave side military rites conducted by John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion. Memorials in the name of Duane D. Miller may be given to St. Mary School or to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospital Hospice.
