Hazel V. Herman, age 91, of Edon, Ohio, died at 9:37 A.M. on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bryan, Ohio, where she was a resident. Mrs. Herman was a graduate of Bryan High School and was a longtime resident of Edon. She was a postal worker at the Edon Post Office and retired with twenty-five years of service. Hazel was a devoted member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Edon, where she was a member of the Mary Martha Society. She loved to play games with her grandchildren and always seemed to win at Scrabble and when playing Bridge. Hazel V. Herman was born on February 23, 1920, near Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of John and Esther (Imm) Guillaume. She married Richard Duane “R.D.” Herman on June 1, 1940, in Blakselee, Ohio, and he survives. Mrs. Herman is also survived by two daughters, Sandy (Larry) Fosler, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Nancy (Chad) Dunnavan, of Angola, Indiana; three sons, Dave (Roma) Herman, of Valhalla, New York, Tom (Dee) Herman, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Jeff (Debbie) Herman, of Edon; a daughter-in-law, Janice Herman, also of Angola; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Dick Herman, and two sisters, Ruth Psurny and Elma Keiser. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edon. Services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2011, at 10:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, with Pastor Roger Marlow officiating. Interment will follow in the Edon Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Solana Alzheimer’s Care Unit at Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center.
