Ronald M. Olds, age 92, of rural Butler, Indiana, died at 8:50 A.M. on Thursday, August 25, 2011, at the Laurels of DeKalb in Butler, where he was a resident. Mr. Olds was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He had resided on the family farm established by his grandparents since 1947. He was a lifelong farmer who also cut and sold firewood for many years. Ronald was a member of Zion United Methodist Church of rural Butler. Ronald Olds was born on May 3 in St. Joe Township of Williams County, Ohio, the son of Carl and Vertie (Kaiser) Olds. He married Lucile Eddy on June 29, 1947, near Butler, Indiana, and she preceded him in death in 2000. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Wolf. Ronald is survived by one niece, Anna Lee Weilbaker, of Crown Point, Indiana, six nieces and nephews from his wife Lucile’s family, Roma Lee Perez, of Edgerton, Ohio, Elizabeth Eddy Haughton, of Andrews, North Carolina, Latriealle Wheat, of Angola, Indiana, Sandra Eddy, of Fort Collins, Colorado, Nelson Eddy, of Hamilton, Indiana, and William Eddy, of Fort Collins, Colorado, and twelve great-nieces and nephews. Services for Ronald Olds will be on Sunday, August 28, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Jack Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio. Visitation will be in the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 P.M. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials in the name of Ronald Olds may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
