Mark Alan Imm of Edgerton passed away peacefully Friday, August 5, 2011, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers-Bryan. Born September 26, 1952, he was the loving son of Merle and Lila Jeanne (Kaiser) Imm. Mark married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Barbara Ann Ricketts, on August 31, 1974, and they enjoyed 36 happy years together. The pride and joy of Mark’s life was his sons, Alan Joseph Imm and Austin Lee Imm, both of Edgerton. Mark also enjoyed the companionship of his loyal English Springer Spaniels, Baylee and Reggie. Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Edith Ricketts. He is survived by his brother, Neal and Sandy Imm, of Edgerton. Also surviving and his in-laws, Ted Ricketts, Connie and Bill Brigle, Dave and Connie Ricketts, Laura and Gary Gearhart and their families, all of the Edon area. Well known as a car guy, Mark had a passion and gift for turning steel and rust into outstanding automobiles, specializing in Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth. Mark was a member of the National Street Rod Association (NRSA). He was awarded the representatives’ choice award in the fall of 2005 at the NRSA Nationals North, located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In 2009 Mark and Barb completed a leg of the Street Rodder Road Tour, beginning in Michigan and ending in Vermont. In addition to Mark’s love of cars, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. Mark’s work career began at age 12 working for the family business, Imm Tractor Sales of Edgerton, and concluded at Dana Corporation of Fort Wayne, with 28 years of service. Mark was also a member of the United Steel Workers Union 903, where he served as a union steward and union committeeman. Mark also enjoyed working as a sales manager for the Casebere brothers of Casebere Motor Sales, Edgerton. Mark was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edgerton, devoting his time and talents to the choir, ushering, serving on the St Mary’s school board, and coaching the grade school basketball team. Mark was also a member of Knights of Columbus #1494. Mark graduated from Edgerton High School in 1970, and later Hambolt Airline Academy. Mark was also affiliated with the Edgerton Rotary Club, serving on the Miller Park development and improvement committee, as well as the Edgerton Recreation association, serving as a baseball coach for various local teams, Little League through Acme league. He also served on the Friends of the Edgerton Public Library Board, and was a member of the Edgertones men’s singing group. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton. Services will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edgerton with Reverend Arthur J. Niewiadomski officiating. Memorials in Mark’s name may be given to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church door refinishing fund. The family is also planning to create a perennial garden in Mark’s memory.
