Mildred H. Luke

Mildred H. Luke, age 85, of Edon, Ohio, died at 8:40 P.M. on Monday, August 1, 2011, in her home after a brief illness. Mrs. Luke was a 1943 graduate of Edgerton High School and was employed as a cook with Edon Northwest Schools for twenty-two years. She was also a member of the Edon United Methodist Church. Mildred H. Luke was born on October 3, 1925, in Edgerton, Ohio, the daughter of Roscoe Lee and Grace (Wynn) Sechler. She married Richard W. Luke on July 25, 1943, in Edgerton and he preceded her in death on June 2, 2008. Mildred is survived by one daughter, Vicki (Thomas) Kurtz, of Edon, one son, Robert W. (Mary) Luke, of Bryan, Ohio, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were one son, Connie Luke, in 1997, and three brothers, Harold, Lee H. “Pete” and Wilmer “Brownie” Sechler. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edon. Services will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in the Edon United Methodist Church with Reverend Robert Damschroder officiating. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery, near Bryan. Memorials are requested to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospital Hospice or to Edon United Methodist Church.
