Richard L. Fisher, 60, of Bryan, Ohio, passed peacefully into the arms of God on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Parkview Cancer Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, following a vigorous thirty-four month battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Richard was born in Garret, Indiana on October 6, 1950 to W. Dale and Martha Fisher. He grew up in Butler, Indiana with his two older brothers, Ronald and Roger and graduated from Eastside High School in 1968. On his 21st birthday, he was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgerton, Ohio. On April 15, 1972, Richard married the love of his life, Roxanne Hughart. The two lived in Bryan and were blessed with two sons, Ryan and Randy, and their wives, Erin and Amy, and grandchildren Chase, Peyton, and Alexandria. Richard attended Indiana University and later graduated Suma Cum Laude from International Business College, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a degree in Computer Science. He began his career and spent fourteen years in Information Technology at Spangler Candy Company, Bryan, Ohio. Richard then advanced his career for twelve years at Sauder Woodworking, Archbold, Ohio. Throughout his career he worked in various levels of Management with Ohio Art, Wheeltec, Chase Brace, Auburn Foundry, and Data Eclipse. The past five rewarding years of his career were spent with Dawn Food Products, Jackson, Michigan, as Senior Special Projects Manager. Richard was a proud member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served his Lord and congregation as Chairman, Elder, and Deacon. He was a past member of the Bryan Jaycees and the Information Technology Users group. He was avid musician, playing the tenor sax and guitar. In fact, Richard played the bass guitar in a rock band in the ‘60s. Richard was athletic and loved sports, especially those which he coached and later watched his sons play in their high school and college careers. Recently, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren in football, soccer, and swimming. During summers, Richard loved being outside in the sun and boating at Lake Tippecanoe. He was also extremely passionate about sports cars, especially vintage Corvettes. Most of all, Richard cherished his time with family, as a faithful husband, loving Dad, and playing with all of his grandchildren, who knew him affectionately as “Bopa.” Richard is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Roxanne (Hughart); two sons and daughters-in-law, Ryan and his wife Erin, of East Grand Rapids, Michigan, Randy and his wife, Amy, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his grandchildren Chase and Peyton Anne Fisher, East Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Alexandria Fisher, Fort Wayne, Indiana; his two brothers and sister-in-law, Ronald Fisher, Lutherville, Maryland, and Roger and Janet Fisher, Leesburg, Indiana; his wife’s family, David and Carol Hughart, Kelso, Washington, Richard Hughart, Hicksville, Ohio, James Hughart, Ladson, South Carolina, Stan and Debra Hughart, Edgerton, Ohio, Kathy and Bill Teegardin, Ladson, South Carolina, Barbara and Gary Alley, Hudson, Indiana, Connie and Kenneth Webb, Escondido, California; his Godson, Daniel Hughart, Butler, Indiana; he is also survived by two aunts, several nieces, nephews, friends, colleagues, and his church family. Those who knew him best described him as faithful, trustworthy, organized, confident, astute, and honorable. Visitation for Richard will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011, from 3:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church near Edgerton, Ohio. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M in the church. Interment will follow in the Zion Cemetery.
