William H. "Bill" Saltzman

William H. “Bill” Saltzman, age 71, of Archbold, Ohio, died at 5:50 A.M. on Saturday, July 9, 2011, in Defiance Inpatient Hospice from complications of diabetes after a long illness. Mr. Saltzman was a 1959 graduate of Bryan High School and attended barber school in Toledo, Ohio. He had worked at Fisher Automatic Vending in Bryan for several years and retired from Sauder Woodworking in Archbold. His memberships included Christ Community Church in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, Bryan Kiwanis, of which he was a past president, Bryan Moose Lodge #1064, of which he was past governor, Bryan Rotary, and Bryan V.F.W. Post #2489 (Dads’ Club). He was a former member of the Zenobia Shrine. Bill served as a volunteer with C.H.W.C. Hospital Hospice and many times was introduced as his wife Sue’s other dummy in her ventriloquist act. His father was the former owner of The Dining Car in Bryan. William H. “Bill” Saltzman was born on August 11, 1939, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of William Herbert and Fawn (Cook) Saltzman. He married Joyce Berry, who preceded him in death in 1998. He then married Suzanne M. (Poinsette) Jessberger on July 11, 1999, in Ridgeville Corners and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Bradley (and fiancee, Wanda Ross) Saltzman, of Smyrna, Tennessee; five stepchildren, Ann (Roger) Penning, of Montpelier, Ohio, Michele (Barry) Felt, of Norwood, Minnesota, Julie (Steve) Busch, of Napoleon, Ohio, Jane (Pete) Bowen, of Edgerton, Ohio, and Anton Jessberger, of Santa Monica, California; two nephews; Billy Neumann and Jeff Neumann, three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sixteen stepgrandchildren; thirteen stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Sally Nowak, of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was also preceded in death by one infant son, Christopher, and two stepbrothers, Dick and Bill Belt. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in Christ Community Church (the old Ridgeville School), 20172 County Road X, Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, with Don Barnett, Pastor officiating, with visitation one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. A reception meal will be served at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to C.H.W.C. Hospital Hospice or Christ Community Church.
