Delvain E. “Stoney” Kittle, Sr., age 86, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 1:20 A.M. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, in Park View Nursing Care Center in Edgerton, where he had been a hospice patient for ten days following a lengthy illness. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served as a Seabee on the Pacific Front during WWII. Mr. Kittle was a self-employed truck driver and mechanic for over fifty years. He owned Stoney’s Road and Wrecker Service in Edgerton for four years and retired in 1986 from Bryan Truck Lines. He was a member of Emanuel Methodist Church, rural Edgerton, Bryan Chapter #248 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Bryan Lodge #215 F & AM and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a past member of the Shriners, a former member of the Zenobia Mystics, of which he served as a director and president, and a former member of Evening Star Chapter #14 of the Order of the Eastern Star, in which he held many positions, including Worthy Patron. Delvain E. “Stoney” Kittle, Sr. was born on July 27, 1924, near Warsaw, Indiana, the son of Milo Amos and Alta Marie (Thomas) Kittle. He married Clara B. Kuszmaul on August 31, 1946, in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Delvain (Janet) Kittle, Jr., of Bryan, Ohio, Ruby (George) Schindler, of Ney, Ohio, Lavon Kittle, of Butler, Indiana, Johnny Ray Kittle, Sr., of Edgerton, and Alan (Jamie) Kittle, also of Bryan, eighteen grandchildren, one stepgrandchild, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and four stepgreat-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were one daughter, Anna Toms, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers, Milo Kittle, Jr. and Alexander Kittle, and one sister, Lillian Ankney. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, on Thursday, June 9, 2011, from 4:00-7:30 P.M. with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 P.M. Services will be on Friday, June 10, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor John MacFarlane officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, with grave side military rites conducted by Bryan V.F.W. Post #2489. Memorials contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital or Emanuel Methodist Church in Edgerton.
