George L. Stotz, age 68, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 8:20 A.M. on Saturday, May 14, 2011, in his home of service-related herbicidal lymphoma. Mr. Stotz was a graduate of Edgerton High School and served with the United States Army as a mechanic and tank driver in Vietnam. He was a lifelong farmer, had worked with Brust Pipeline for ten years, and started Stotz Service and Repair in July of 1995, which he was still operating at the time of his death. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and attended the Edgerton Church of Christ. His memberships also included Edgerton John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion, the former Edgerton Street Rod Association, "Good Guys" and he was a lifetime member of the NHRA (National Street Rod Association). George L. Stotz was born on February 17, 1943, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of George L. and Bertha L. (Fox) Stotz. He married Sharon L. Wise on May 17, 1964, in Edgerton and she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Brian (Jessica Disbro) Stotz, of Edgerton, and two grandchildren, Jared and Camron Stotz. Also surviving are three sisters, Kathleen Robarge, of Bryan, Maralyn (Frank) Cape, of Edgerton, and Janis (Sam) Oyer, of Archbold, Ohio, and one brother, Kenneth Stotz, of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Ruth Cooley, Eleanor Jesse, Jean Bowman and Phyllis Tonkel, and one brother, Richard Stotz. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. in the Edgerton Church of Christ. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 A.M., in the church. Interment with grave side military rites conducted by John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton. Memorials are requested to the Edgerton Church of Christ or to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospital Hospice.
