Joanne Bunce, age 81,of Montpelier, Ohio, died at 1:10 A.M. on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Evergreen Manor Nursing Center in Montpelier after an extended illness. Mrs. Bunce was a 1948 graduate of Montpelier High School. She was a member of the Edon Church of Christ, the Edon American Legion Post #662 Auxiliary and she also worked on the Board of Elections for many years. Joanne was an excellent cook, known for her pies, and felt it was her mission in life to recognize the special occasions of friends and family with a card. Joanne Bunce was born on March 24, 1930, in Montpelier, Ohio, the daughter of Paul H. and Faye L. (Cramer) Snyder. She married Wayne L. Bunce on May 20, 1949, in Montpelier, and he preceded her in death on September 18, 2010. Mrs. Bunce is survived by two daughters, Carol (Jamie) Bockbrader, of Columbus, Ohio, and Susan (Martin) Shirey, of Defiance, Ohio, one son, Ronald (Jodee) Bunce, of Waterville, Ohio, eight grandchildren, Carrie, Jason, Justin and Caitlin Bockbrader, Aaron (Elisha) DeRan, Dustin (Kylee) Shirey, and Kelsey and Jacob Bunce, three great-grandchildren, Ayla Bockbrader and Kenyah and Weston Shirey, and an exchange student, Ulises Olivares. She is also survived by two sisters, Carolyn Sanders and Norma Jean Casper, both of Montpelier. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were her parents and one grandson, Jordan Shirey. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio. Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in the Edon Church of Christ with David LaDuke, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in the Edon Cemetery. Memorials in the name of Joanne Bunce may be given to the Edon Church of Christ or to the Jordan Shirey Memorial Fund.
