Richard R. Sanders, age 84, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 11:10 P.M. on Friday, March 18, 2011, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, where he was a patient. Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II on the USS Hermitage, and was employed by The Aro Corporation in Bryan, retiring in 1989 with forty-three years of service. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan and was a Life member of Bryan American Legion Post #284. Richard R. Sanders was born on January 5, 1927, in Butler, Indiana, the son of Lawrence Ralph and Edith (Harry) Sanders. He married Norma E. Shearer on February 7, 1948, in Bryan and she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Thomas Sanders, of Bryan, and Steven (Cheryl) Sanders, of Jacksonville, Florida, one daughter, Nancy (Samuel) Baker, of Holgate, Ohio, three grandchildren, Jason, Jamie and Adam Sanders, three stepgrandchildren, Stephanie, Sarah and Steven Wicks, and four great-grandchildren, Jenna, Spencer and Ellianna Sanders and Gage Ridenour. Also surviving are two sisters, Theresa LaMantia and Donelda Siglow, both of Bryan, and one brother, Harry (Betty) Sanders, of Edgerton, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. A scripture service will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 P.M. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, with Reverend James Halleron officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, Ohio. Grave side military rites will be conducted by Bryan American Legion Post #284.
