Helen I. Mearse

Helen I. Mearse, age 87, of Hamilton, Indiana, died at 10:50 A.M. on Monday, March 7, 2011, at Lakeland Nursing Center in Angola, Indiana, where she was resident. Mrs. Mearse was employed as a shipping clerk at Devilbiss in Angola, Indiana, for ten years until her retirement. Helen I. Mearse was born on January 27, 1924, in Woodburn, Indiana, the daughter of Harley and Blanche (Dollarhite) Thompson. She married Billie A. Mearse on July 7, 1951, in Woodburn, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on March 1, 2008. Survivors include two sons, Orin “Odie” Mearse, of Edon, Ohio, and Paul Mearse, of Angola, Indiana, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one brother, Howard Thompson, of Woodburn, Indiana, and a daughter-in-law, Patty Thompson, of Evansville, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Jay Roger Thompson and Gene C. Mearse, a brother, Robert Thompson, a sister, Elanor Cotner, and one great-granddaughter, Jennifer Mearse. Visitation for Helen I. Mearse will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio. Services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, with Reverend Sam Weimer and Reverend Marvin Mason officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery near Blakeslee, Ohio. Memorials are requested to the family.
