Evelyn J. “Rusty” McCarty, age 85, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 10:45 A.M. on Monday, February 14, 2011, in her home after an extended illness. Mrs. McCarty was a graduate of Kendallville High School in Kendallville, Indiana, and retired in 1982 after fifty-eight years as a manager, bartender and hostess in several area restaurants. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan, Bryan Moose Lodge #1064 and Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233. Evelyn J. McCarty was born on August 22, 1925, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Cleeson A. and Beatrice I. (Wasson) Miller. Surviving are one daughter, Judith A. Runyan; of Lima, Ohio; one son, Thomas W. Easterday, in California; and seven grandchildren, Michelle Stone, Kelley Hartranft, Scott Pollick, Steven Collins, Kayleen Leonard and Todd R. Collins. Also surviving are twenty great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Cheryl Hicks, a grandson, Gary Collins, and her grandmother, Ida Belle Lash. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 18, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday at 7:30 P.M. Services will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, with Reverend James Halleron officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan. Memorials in the name of Evelyn J. “Rusty” McCarty are requested to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospital Hospice.
