Opal M. Reed, age 99, of Auburn, Indiana, and formerly a longtime resident of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 11:20 P.M. on Friday, January 28, 2011, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn, where she was a resident. Mrs. Reed was employed by the canning factory in Edgerton and retired at the age of 80 from Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton. She was a longtime member of the Edgerton United Methodist Church and was affiliated with the Butler Nazarene Church in Butler, Indiana. She was an avid card player, especially Euchre, and loved working crossword puzzles. Opal M. Reed was born on May 29, 1911, in Farmer Township of Defiance County, Ohio, the daughter of Richard and Rosetta (Guyse) Singleton. She married Raymond Wilson Reed in 1934 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 1979. Mrs. Reed is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Feller, of Auburn, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The youngest of nine children, she was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters and one son, Wallace Wilson Reed. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio. Services will follow at 1:30 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton with Pastor Paul Patton officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. Memorials are requested to DeKalb Memorial Hospital Hospice Care.
