Alvin B. "Boyd" Hicks, age 57, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 2:05 P.M. on Saturday, January 15, 2011, in his home. Mr. Hicks was a 1971 graduate of Edgerton High School and served in the United States Army from 1971-1975. He was employed by Fleetwood Industries in Edgerton and retired in 2007, due to disability, from the Garrett, Indiana, plant, where he had served as plant manager and as a supervisor after more than twenty-five years of service. He was a member of the Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233, Bryan Moose Lodge #1064, and Surburban Golf Course, where he enjoyed playing golf. Alvin B. "Boyd" Hicks was born in Fort Hood, Texas, the son of Ezra Alvin and Vivian L. (Williamson) Hicks. He married Cheryl L. Snow on June 4, 1988, near Montpelier, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2005. Surviving are his mother, Vivian L. Hicks, of Blakeslee, Ohio, two brothers, Ray Hicks, of Blakeslee, and James G. (Claudia) Hicks, of Somerset, Kentucky, two sisters, Teresa G. (Andrew) Heredia, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Denisa L. (Randy) Hankey, of Butler, Indiana, two nieces, Samantha (Brian) Dunn and Alisha Hankey, one nephew, Alvin Weston (Sara) Hankey, one great-niece, Aubrey Dunn, and two great-nephews, Koby and Gage Hankey. Also surviving is his longtime companion, Donna Distel, of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his father, Ezra, in 2001. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, from 1:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Grave side services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in Fountain Grove Cemetery, in Bryan. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
