Catherine M. Smith

Catherine M. Smith, age 83, of Butler, Indiana, and formerly a longtime resident of Edon, Ohio, died at 2:45 A.M. on Saturday, December 25, 2010, at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn, Indiana, where she was a patient, after a brief illness. Catherine M. Smith was born on December 14, 1927, in Hicksville, Ohio, the daughter of Lafayett and Harriett (Carrell) Thompson. She married John M. Smith on June 19, 1953, in Edon, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2003. She is survived by two sons, Kent R. (Kathie) Smith, of Montpelier, Ohio, and Jerry Smith, of Michigan City, Indiana, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Virginia Harter, of Pulaski, Ohio. She was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, one brother, William Thompson, and two sisters, Mary and Rose Thompson. Private services will be held at the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with interment to follow in Edon Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
