Loretto P. Kohl, age 93, of rural Montpelier, Ohio, died at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, April 30, 2012, in her home after a brief illness. Mrs. Kohl was a 1936 graduate of Pioneer High School and was a dedicated farm wife. She was active in the community as a 4-H advisor with the Dainty Dish 4-H club and had been a longtime member of the Williams County Fair Board. In her Northwest Township and Nettle Lake communities, she was active in the Nettle Lake United Brethren Church, where she taught Sunday school classes for many years, and was a member of the Nettle Lake Ladies Aide and the Women’s Missionary Association, in which she held various offices. The Ladies Aide started ice cream socials in 1956, which were held at the Kohl family farm home from 1956-1973. She was a member of the Nettle Lake Grandmother’s Club and was also active at the Edon Senior Center.
Loretto P. Kohl was born on August 18, 1918, in Bridgewater Township of Williams County, Ohio, the daughter of Lewis M. “Babe” and Pearl E. (Doner) Yoder. She married Alva D. Kohl on June 22, 1940, at the North Bridgewater Church of God in Pioneer and he preceded her in death on January 13, 1993.
Survivors include two sons, Dwight (Connie) Kohl and Neil (Sue) Kohl, both of Edon; one daughter, Dianne (John) Hartmann, of Troy, Ohio; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Yoder, of Tecumseh, Michigan; and one sister, Mary Sue (Carrol) Sickmiller, of Montpelier. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Hal, Earl and Don Yoder.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio. Services celebrating the life of Loretto P. Kohl will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, with Pastor Mike Wilder officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier.
